Transmission Rebuild
Warranty

We take pride in the quality of our workmanship and the components used in our transmission rebuilding services. Our goal is to provide customers with dependable, professionally rebuilt transmissions while maintaining clear expectations regarding warranty coverage, maintenance responsibilities, and claim procedures.

Standard coverage is 2 years, subject to the specific terms outlined in the customer's invoice or written warranty agreement.

How It Works

Your rebuild.
Your coverage.

Our standard transmission rebuild warranty is 2 years, subject to the specific terms outlined in the customer's invoice or written warranty agreement. Every rebuild is documented in writing — read your paperwork alongside this page, and ask us anything that isn't clear.

Standard Term

2 Years

Subject to the terms in your invoice or written warranty agreement.

Coverage Begins

On Delivery

The date the completed vehicle or rebuilt transmission is delivered to the customer.

Warranty terms may vary depending on the transmission model, vehicle application, modifications, components supplied, and the type of service performed. Performance transmissions, racing applications, customer-supplied parts, and specialty builds may carry separate warranty agreements.

1

Coverage

What's Covered

Our warranty covers verified defects resulting directly from the workmanship performed during the original transmission rebuild. This includes failures caused by improper assembly or installation of components included in the original rebuild.

Professional Workmanship

We stand behind the assembly and installation work performed during your rebuild. If a verified defect traces back to that workmanship, it falls within the scope of coverage.

Internal Transmission Components

Coverage may include internal components replaced or serviced as part of the original rebuild, including:

  • Clutch packs and friction materials
  • Steel clutch plates
  • Internal seals and sealing rings
  • Gaskets and O-rings
  • Bushings and bearings
  • Internal transmission components replaced during the rebuild
  • Valve body components repaired or replaced as part of the original service
  • Other parts specifically identified as covered on the original invoice

Coverage applies to qualifying defects in components supplied and installed by Palmetto Performance Garage.

Covered Repairs

If a transmission experiences a verified failure covered under the warranty, Palmetto Performance Garage will repair or replace the defective covered components in accordance with the written warranty agreement.

  • Warranty repairs are subject to inspection and confirmation of the cause of failure.
  • The warranty does not automatically authorize complete transmission replacement when the issue can be corrected through an appropriate repair.
2

Exclusions

What's Not Covered

Our warranty is intended to protect customers against qualifying defects in parts and workmanship. It does not cover damage resulting from outside causes, misuse, or unrelated vehicle problems.

Abuse and Improper Operation

Examples of excluded damage may include:

  • Racing or competitive motorsports use unless specifically covered in writing
  • Burnouts, excessive wheelspin, or abusive driving
  • Operation beyond the transmission's agreed power or torque capacity
  • Towing loads beyond the vehicle's rated capacity
  • Continued operation after significant slipping, overheating, or loss of fluid pressure
  • Unauthorized performance modifications that cause or contribute to failure

Overheating and Fluid-Related Damage

Damage caused by the following may be excluded when unrelated to a covered defect:

  • Insufficient transmission fluid
  • Incorrect transmission fluid
  • Contaminated transmission fluid
  • Improper maintenance
  • External cooling system restrictions
  • Damaged transmission cooler lines
  • Unrelated external fluid leaks
  • Excessive operating temperatures caused by vehicle conditions outside the rebuild

External Vehicle Components

The warranty does not cover unrelated failures involving:

  • Engine mechanical problems
  • Engine control modules
  • Vehicle wiring harnesses
  • External sensors not included in the original repair
  • Driveshafts and differentials
  • Transfer cases
  • Engine mounts or transmission mounts not replaced during the original service
  • Unrelated electrical or computer system faults

Additional Exclusions

Unless specifically included in the written warranty agreement, coverage does not include:

  • Vehicle towing or transportation
  • Rental vehicles
  • Lost wages
  • Loss of vehicle use
  • Incidental expenses
  • Repairs performed by another facility without prior authorization
  • Components not included in the original rebuild
  • Pre-existing vehicle conditions unrelated to the covered repair

These exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this warranty excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

Responsibilities

What Keeps Your Warranty Valid

To maintain warranty coverage, customers must operate and maintain their vehicles responsibly and follow the applicable maintenance requirements.

Proper Transmission Maintenance

Customers must:

  • Use the correct transmission fluid specified for their application.
  • Maintain proper transmission fluid levels.
  • Follow the maintenance schedule provided with their completed rebuild.
  • Address fluid leaks, overheating, slipping, or abnormal shifting promptly.
  • Maintain the transmission cooling system in proper operating condition.
  • Follow any additional written recommendations provided at delivery.

Report Problems Promptly

If a customer notices unusual shifting, slipping, overheating, fluid loss, abnormal noises, or other transmission concerns, they should contact Palmetto Performance Garage promptly.

Continuing to operate a vehicle with an apparent transmission malfunction can cause additional damage.

Damage resulting from continued operation after a known problem may be excluded when that operation caused or worsened the failure.

Unauthorized Repairs and Modifications

Customers should contact Palmetto Performance Garage before allowing another repair facility to disassemble or repair a transmission covered under warranty.

Unauthorized work does not automatically void the entire warranty, but damage caused by unauthorized modifications or repairs may not be covered.

Performance Applications

Transmission builds designed for towing, increased horsepower, or modified vehicles must be operated within the specifications agreed upon during the build.

Significant changes in engine output, tuning, tire size, or vehicle application should be discussed with Palmetto Performance Garage.

Any performance-specific warranty limitations must be documented in the customer's written agreement.

Maintenance Records

Customers are encouraged to retain receipts and records of transmission fluid services, cooling system repairs, and related maintenance. These records may assist in evaluating warranty claims.

Claim Process

How to Make a Warranty Claim

We want warranty concerns handled professionally, efficiently, and fairly. If you believe your transmission is experiencing a problem related to our original workmanship or supplied components, please follow these steps.

Step 1

Contact Our Shop

Contact Palmetto Performance Garage as soon as a problem is discovered.

Please provide

  • Customer name
  • Phone number
  • Vehicle year, make, and model
  • Original invoice or repair information
  • Current vehicle mileage
  • Description of the problem
  • Any diagnostic trouble codes
  • Photos or videos when available
Step 2

Avoid Additional Damage

If the transmission is slipping severely, overheating, losing fluid, or making abnormal mechanical noises, discontinue vehicle operation when safe to do so. Contact us for guidance before continuing to drive.

Step 3

Schedule an Inspection

We will arrange an appropriate inspection or diagnostic evaluation.

The transmission may require testing, fluid inspection, electronic diagnostics, or partial or complete disassembly to determine the cause of failure.

Step 4

Warranty Determination

Once the cause of the problem has been established, we will determine whether the failure qualifies for coverage under the applicable warranty.

  • If the issue is covered, the qualifying repair will be performed in accordance with the written warranty agreement.
  • If the issue is not covered, we will explain the findings and provide an estimate before performing additional customer-paid repairs.

Any diagnostic or disassembly charges for non-covered problems must be disclosed and authorized before the work begins.

Step 5

Repair and Final Testing

Approved warranty repairs will be completed using appropriate components and procedures.

When applicable, the transmission will undergo final operational testing before being returned to the customer.
